Born in South Ockendon, Essex John taught himself drums when he was 16 and after playing in a succession of pub groups and touring around the country for several years he met up with Alan Williams and his career somewhat paralleled Alan’s, playing with him in The ‘Medium’ during the 60’s and being the other half of ‘Baskin & Copperfield’ in the early 70’s.
By the time he was 25 he started to achieve success on the recording session scene playing on many top ten international hits such as ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ (Carl Douglas), ‘Dancing On A Saturday Night’ (Barry Blue), ‘Born With A Smile On my Face’ (Stephanie De Sykes) and of course ‘Sugar Baby Love’. After forming The Rubettes John proved to be one of the driving forces co-writing many of their ‘Hit’s’ and becoming famed for his antics on and off stage. In France he was affectionally know as ‘le clown’.
In 1983 John left the band and the pop world to concentrate on a career in alternative medicine, studying massage, reflexology, herbal medicine, Hypnotherapy and in recent times music and Mantra Therapy. He has many popular New Age recordings to his credit as a solo artist.
John now performs with Alan and Mick.
